Description

ARA-290, also known as cibinetide, is a defined synthetic 11-amino-acid peptide (undecapeptide) supplied as a sequence-verified reference compound for laboratory research. Its sequence corresponds to the helix-B surface region of erythropoietin (EPO), and it is engineered as a non-erythropoietic derivative — retaining tissue-protective signaling while lacking EPO’s red-blood-cell-stimulating activity.

Additional Information

ARA-290 was developed by Araim Pharmaceuticals as a selective agonist of the innate repair receptor (IRR), described as a heteromer of the EPO receptor (EPOR) and the β-common receptor (CD131). This receptor is distinct from the classical erythropoietic EPO receptor homodimer, which is the structural basis for the peptide’s separation of tissue-protective signaling from erythropoiesis — a widely studied model system in tissue-protection and anti-inflammatory research. Investigated strictly as a laboratory research compound, in in-vitro and preclinical models, ARA-290 is studied in the areas listed below. These are areas of scientific investigation only and are not claims of efficacy for any use.

Areas of Research

  • •Innate repair receptor (IRR) pharmacology: Selective EPOR/CD131 heteromer activation without hematopoietic EPO-receptor stimulation.
  • •Anti-inflammatory signaling: Modulation of macrophage activation and inflammatory/fibrotic responses.
  • •Tissue-protection and nerve-repair models: Schwann cell and neuronal research models, nerve regeneration/remyelination, and microglial response.
